Oracle of Consciousness
Journeys of the Soul
A Meeting with Destiny
Their next two-day trek through the foothills, following Rinpoche's carefully crafted and hand drawn map, had lead them through spartan valleys, fast running glacier melt rivers and hoards of little kids running out to greet them with:
"Namaste!"
"Namaste!"
"Namaste!"
They were made welcome in every village, so it was no problem at the end of the day, to find somewhere to take refuge from the bone-chilling breezes gusting off the mountains.
"So far so good," mentioned Angelique over a welcome stove and too many young and old, mesmerised eyes to count, who appeared out of nowhere to stare fascinated at their first western faces.
"Now I know what it feels like to be Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie walking down Sunset Strip in LA." Quipped Jake.
"These remote areas of Tibet don't even have TV, so I am sure we look like aliens to them." Jake added.
"You speak for yourself Jake," replied Angelique, "and seeing as you haven't looked into a mirror for a few days, I can understand why they can't keep their eyes of you."
With that they both burst out laughing, which caught on with their audience and before long. everyone was in stitches!
The next morning they arose to the sound of chickens, chattering young voices and well used suspended metal pots clanging into each other, battling for fire space.
Angelique politely declined the yak stew, having been a vegetarian for a number of years, but not so for Jake, who heartily tucked into a large bowl, while grinning from ear-to-ear as he taunted Angelique to taste the meat.
After breakfast, the entire village as spartan and relatively unpopulated as it was, turned out to bid the couple a safe journey, unbeknownst to them, their destination.
Two hours later they crested a ridge as depicted on their precious map and there it was, a simple adobe hut aside a tiny stream and surrounded by steep hills and pristine nature.
Smoke crept into the sky from the fire within, so they knew their destination was inhabited.
"Your here!" the old man cried out from the side of his dwelling where he was tending to some Autumn vegetables.
"You are younger than I expected!"
Jake gave Angelique that knowing 'quantum entanglement' look, but kept his lips buttoned up.
Little did they know at the time that their adventure had taken them to the most wisest man they had ever encountered - Chodrak.
Over the next 4 days, the three of them chatted endlessly, laughed, reminisced and the young couple slept in a small outhouse, which at one time was a barn for Chodrak's yak. Now equipped with their two hammocks it became a cosy, if spartan nook.
Chodrak enquired about their mutual friend Assaji, who had recommended Angelique and Jake to visit and after taking in all the news and stories, he quietly slipped in "I remember him vividly, after what must be at least ten, probably fifteen years ago."
"Wait!" exclaimed Jake, "If you don't mind, may I ask how old you are, Chodrak?"
"I am 107 years young," he wittily remarked.
Needless to say, Jake was flabbergasted and incredulously replied, "But you are still so active, gardening, fetching wood and the other day when we were hiking in the hinterland, I had to stop to catch my breath, while you powered on up the hill!"
"How can that be?"
"There are many men and women older than me on this planet young man, and much of it is put down to making a lifestyle choice; living simply, being grateful, appreciating all that Nature provides us and having mastery over our minds."
"Not only that, but I have chosen breatharianism as my form of nourishment."
Now it was clear to them both about what they had witnessed when Chodrak declined any food at mealtimes, stating he was not hungry, and thinking he was taking his food alone in his room.
"How long is it Chodrak since you took any food or water?" Jake queried, as he had heard about breatharians from Angelique.
"About seven years now," he replied, "since my Yak died of old age and a long drawn out winter consumed all my food stocks, I couldn't leave because the snow had me captive in my own dwelling."
"I now live on Prana, Chi energy or as you would call it, Life Force Energy, breathing it in with each mindful in-breath and assimilating it through my skin along with sunlight. After all it is in abundance all around us and free!!" He chuckled.
"Every cell, every organ, each and every body system, all of it, is now nourished fully and completely by Prana.
I am in no need of any external source of food."
"Furthermore, I have reprogrammed my telomeres, those clever little compound structures at the end of each chromosome, to regrow, regenerate and renew themselves, just like Mother nature does!
"So the aging process is slowed down markedly, but I am still working on reversing it." he quietly laughed.
"If only I could turn my beard and hair to black again!" to which they all fell about laughing their heads off!
Over the next few weeks, Angelique and Jake immersed themselves in Chodrak's profound wisdom, caring and sharing.
Their hikes in the foothills and rest-stops filled with questions, and the answers were the highlight of their days.
On one such occasion, Jake posed the question about how it was possible that both Rinpoche in Lhasa and you, Chodrak, in this remote area knew about their arrival, when it was never discussed or announced with anyone.
"It is all to do with Consciousness, my curious young friend" Chodrak replied"
You see, Consciousness is what we are at the core, and is everywhere in everyone and everything, it has no beginning, no ending and is infinite, therefore nothing is separate from this all-pervading Consciousness.
So if we are all connected to everyone and everything, then we can KNOW through our sense of Knowingness, which incidentally, we all carry within us.
Jake was about to open his mouth when Chodrak answered his unasked question,
"Through this Consciousness I can sense and become aware of some content in the Collective Mind of humans, like just now it was your thoughts about to pose a question."
"I can 'see' with my Third Eye, things at a distance, which I think you term 'remote viewing' and I can just KNOW things.
We all have this capability to do this, if we so choose to educate ourselves."
"Which is why, your next question Jake, as to why I left Lhasa and the monastery life I had, so I could tap into these abilities and use them for the good of all."
"As you can see there are no distractions here, I don't have to worry about where my next meal is going to come from, I can easily tune into the cycles and rhythms of Nature and have all the time in the world to put into practice the wisdom I have garnered over this and many lifetimes."
"I can with full awareness, lift my vibrational frequency so it adds to the collective consciousness of the human family."
"I shall continue to live this life until I am 120 years of age, then on the 17th July 2037, at precisely 3:30pm, I shall depart this mortal body for the immortal 'Greener Pastures,' a term I learnt from a hippie in Rishikesh, during 1970!"
"I have no fear of death after all how can infinite consciousness ever die?"
Jake's mind was going flat out trying to comprehend and understand what he had just heard, while Angelique digested the sage words with a sense of familiarity.
No words were spoken between them in the hour it took to return to Chodrak's sanctuary.
