and Spiritual Quotient (SQ) Defined

Intelligence Quotient
(IQ)

An intelligence quotient is a total score derived from a set of standardised tests or subtests designed to assess human intelligence.

Emotional Intelligence (EQ)

The capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and to deal with those of others in order to
build relationships.

Spiritual Quotient
(SQ)

The level of Self-awareness relative to the human spirit or soul.
The belief that there is something greater than our physicality.

For many years, Intelligence Quotient (IQ) has dominated our ability to secure a good job, better our salary and garner the stuff we think will make us happy.

Our education system favoured the left hemisphere of our brains, steeped in logic, analysis and objectivity, with linear thoughts and mind-based solutions. Not that is a bad thing, quite the contrary, it is much needed to plan, analyse and figure out solutions.

However, on it’s own, it is lacking.

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) followed – the ability to deal with our own emotions and the emotions of others. Huge breakthroughs occurred as a result of this pioneering work, popularised by Daniel Goldman.

No longer high IQ people were sought, but 'people-people', those who understood their own emotions and handled them without projecting onto others, while dealing adequately and appropriately with the emotions of other people.

Workplaces, families, schoolrooms, etc., became better, more habitable places, without the volatility of explosive and lower level emotions being projected on everyone in range.

Sales people revelled in the ability to authentically express themselves to customers and clients, teachers taught from a place of understanding and companies experienced more harmony, synergy and productivity, where EQ was practiced in the workplace.

Emerging next in our conscious evolutionary process, came Spiritual Quotient (SQ), a relatively new concept, whereby a person gathers more and more awareness of what is transpiring in their outer world and more importantly, their inner world.

Spiritual awareness in this context, is not to be confused with religion, but is the growing paradigm that will shift our world into more consciousness, peace and harmony.

The uncovering (Yes, you read that right), of who you are at the deepest level, is obtained through sincerely looking inwards, through direct, inner, self-inquiry, as to the nature of your thoughts, emotions, beliefs, behaviours and what lays at your central core.

Affectionately termed “Our Stuff”, we can use our innate intelligence to resolve our emotional baggage we carry around, the volatility of unexpressed feelings, which explode as low level emotions, such as shame, blame and regret, our limiting beliefs learnt from our childhood and behaviours that cause us and others harm, not to mention the environment and our planet’s eco-systems.

As we master our emotions, the natural inclination will be that of curiousity, questioning, exploration and enquiry.

Congratulations, you are stepping into the realm of realms, to shine the light of consciousness upon your life, and by taking responsibility for these elements of our duality and separateness, we raise our awareness as to the real cause of our challenges, woes and what lies beyond them - Interconnectedness.

What is possible if we were to merge
IQ, EQ and SQ, with Consciousness?

Only by embracing the light and the shadow sides of our personality, will we experience our wholeness and interconnectedness
with everything and everyone.
